The Property: Spread over sprawling 50 acres of forested estate along the Ken River, a tributary of the Yamuna, the Ken River Lodge offers a unique blend of traditional hospitality and comfortable country living. Set up in 1986, the lodge was built with natural materials sourced mostly from the surrounding areas and villages. It is also one of the pioneers of wildlife tourism in the country. 


What’s Special: Spend your evenings sitting on your private porch and enjoy the mesmerising, calming sunset. The rustic accommodation gives you an authentic jungle experience that is matched by only a few others. The property boasts of a team of well-trained local staff, naturalists and boatmen that are sure to make your trip memorable. 


The Location: Located in the Panna National Park, the forested area is home to many mammals, birds and reptiles. The national park is spread over an area of 1645 sq. km and offers an opportunity to see animals like tigers, sloth bears, cheetahs, sambhars and nilgai. Panna also sees a number of crocodiles and over 300 species of birds.

Overall Sanitisation: Our lodge staff is being trained and briefed regularly to be extra diligent in sanitising guest rooms and public areas, including – bathrooms, door handles, desk tables and chairs, all switches, telephone instruments and remote, safety latches and locks, exteriors and common areas. 


Health Screening: All our staff is fully vaccinated and goes through regular health screening, including temperature checks. This helps in isolating at the very first instance and minimising spread. Till the reason is ascertained, the team member is kept in isolation. We have created isolation rooms in our lodges as a precautionary measure. All our team members, at all times, are wearing masks and keep sanitising after regular intervals. 


Additional Sanitization: We have enhanced our cleaning processes to include additional sanitation and regular cleaning routines in all sections of our lodges. Sanitizer dispensers are available in all public areas for guest use. Complete guest crockery and cutlery is sanitised using UVC technology. 


Our Individually Spaced Cottages: We have individual cottages in every property, spread in large forested land holdings, offering no use of elevators, corridors etc., hence maximising privacy and social distancing. 


Kitchen: Highest standard of sanitisation will also be maintained in our kitchens. Our staff will enter the kitchen in fresh uniforms and wash their hands thoroughly and regularly. The staff will wear a face mask and continue to sanitise all surfaces after use, including the kitchen wares. Precautions will be taken to thoroughly wash vegetables and grocery packets as well, prior to use. 


Meal Timings: We have extended our main meal timings to give you the privilege of privacy, during meals and to maintain social distancing. Our staff will be wearing masks and the same will be regularly changed. 


Pools: Towels to be changed and pool loungers to be sanitised after every guest use. Chlorine to be monitored on regular intervals. Pool furniture will be arranged to maintain social distancing standards. Towel baskets to be also regularly sanitised, as will the shower area. 


Transfers: We have extended precautions in the transfer vehicles booked via Pugdundee Safaris. All vehicles are sanitised before every transfer and all chauffeurs are screened. The chauffeurs will maintain hygiene standards by wearing face masks . Sanitisers will be provided in the vehicles. 


Mandatory Health Checks: All guests during check-in will also go through a mandatory screening on arrival with hand held devices. 


Sanitising Guest Luggage: Guest luggage and all items coming into the lodge are also sanitised on arrival.

By Air: The closest airport to Panna is Khajuraho Airport, 24 km away. It has direct flights from New Delhi. Jabalpur Airport, 230 kms away, has regular direct flights from all major cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.  


By Rail: Panna is well-connected by train to all major cities. Khajuraho railway station is at a distance of 20 Km from Ken River Lodge.  


By Road: Panna National Park is located on National Highway-39 and is connected well via road to many towns. The state capital, Bhopal, is about 380 kms away and Jhansi is at a distance of 190 kms from the lodge.

Change of Date: If you need to amend your travel dates, 1 change in dates can be done at no additional charge, provided that the change is made at least 10 days prior to the original arrival date and is subject to availability for the newly requested dates. Payment: 100% of the payment amount will be required to be paid at the time of booking.


Hotel Cancellation Policy: All bookings can be cancelled and qualify for a 100% refund in the form of AVcredits, provided it is done strictly XXX days prior to check-in date. Post that, any cancellation, including a no-show on the day of arrival, will incur a full payment. Refunds in the original mode of payment would be possible with a 3.5% transaction charge.

Jungle Safari: Just 1 km from the main gate of Panna National Park, Ken River Lodge offers a jungle experience to cherish. The lodge organises safaris everyday and provides a 4x4 open Suzuki jeep along with a trained naturalist to give visitors a better insight into the park. The Panna Tiger Reserve is a critical tiger habitat where they roam around freely among other mammals like leopards, wild dogs and wolves. The wooded area is dotted with sambar deers, chitals and chowsinghas. Characterised by a number of plateaus and gorges, the land is filled with magnificent waterfalls and archaeological splendour. 


Overnight Camping & Night Safari: The Jhinna Safari Camp (a Ken River Lodge initiative) is an hour’s drive from the lodge and through Panna National Park. The camp is managed by local villagers and offers the best opportunity to spot nocturnal animals like Civets, Jackals, Hyenas, Foxes and Cheetahs. The camp has 4 basic walk-in tents with private separate tented bathrooms with a tribal styled mud dining area that serves up delicious local dishes cooked by the villagers themselves. 


Boat Ride: Enjoy a relaxing and eventful boat ride on the placid river Ken. A motorised boat ride from within the park will give you an opportunity to see crocodiles and also a variety of bird species, both native and migratory. Take in the tranquil surroundings while you float on the river and watch the sun go down. 


Waterfalls Panna: is the land of majestic, cascading waterfalls with few like Pandav and Raneh falls that attract a number of tourists. The Pandav Falls is a serene waterfall located within Panna National Park and surrounded by lush greenery, natural caves and a lake. It is a perennial waterfall fed by the river Ken and falls from a height of about 30m into a pool. The Raneh Falls flaunts a series of waterfalls and is located on the Ken River near Khajuraho. The river cascades a 5 km long and 30m deep canyon made of pure crystalline granite - a true delight to watch. Visitors can also spot innumerable Gharials basking in the sun during the afternoon. Khajuraho A trip to Madhya Pradesh would be incomplete without a visit to the famous city of Khajuraho. Known for its rich historical charm, the land is lined with a number of temples and has some of the most ancient temples in the world. The temples of Khajuraho, known for the exquisite sculptures and statues, were built by the Chandela Kings between 950-1050 AD and have since been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lodge organises guided tours for guests to visit.
